Best Birthday Cake Ever

I recently celebrated my 40th Birthday, and since it was so close to Halloween I had a horror themed party. It's the first birthday party I'd had since I was 14, so it seemed like a great idea for such a landmark birthday.

It was a complete surprise to me when my fiancee brought out my birthday cake, she'd made a brilliant job of it (and in complete secrercy too).  Apart from the skeleton, the spiders, candles and the rats the whole thing is edible, the grass is icing sugar, the fence is made of matchmakers, the soil was crushed oreos and chocolate even the pumpkins and the tombstone were all molded from icing sugar.

To show her how proud I was of her I've decided to post it on my blog.

Dead woman watched TV for 42 years

A woman in Croatia died in 1966 while watching television in her apartment, and was just now discovered.

Hedviga Golik made herself a cup of tea and sat down to watch some television in her hometown of Zagreb, Croatia. Sadly, she died in her chair. This was in 1966. She was just found, 42 years later, in her time capsule mausoleum where she's been sitting ever since. She never finished her tea.

What's absurd is that she was in fact reported missing, but somehow no one ever checked her apartment, which leads me to believe no one checked anywhere. I mean, where else do you look for someone when they're missing? I don't understand it. Her neighbors apparently just assumed she moved out of her apartment, and she was finally found when the police broke in to figure out who owned the place.

A police spokesman said: "When officers went there, they said it was like stepping into a place frozen in time. The cup she had been drinking tea from was still on a table next to the chair she had been sitting in and the house was full of things no one had seen for decades. Nothing had been disturbed for decades, even though there were more than a few cobwebs in there."

Worlds first looping water-slide

I love water-slides, I've been in water parks all over europe and I've never been beaten by a scary one - except in Corfu when I went up, decided "no way", then decided "oh go on then" and then went down it about a dozen times.

But I'm going off on one again (back to the article).

I just found this video of a freaky deaky german looping waterslide - not only does it loop but to start off on it you have to be dropped through a trapdoor too. BRILLIANT!

Ultimate Egg Sandwich

Ok after my first serious rant, I want to mention something which happened to me the other day, isn't advertising getting totally out of hand?

While browsing in the local supermarket the other lunch time, my friend and I spotted that they had "Egg Mayo" & "Ultimate Egg Mayo".

"What do you think makes it Ultimate?" I asked?

"Maybe it's made with special eggs", he replied.

"Maybe they are eggs from a dog", says I...

And there we left it.

I would love to know what makes it so much better but I don't want to spend the considerably extra money to find out.  Disappointment is a terrible thing.

Entry for June 28, 2005

#NOTE - this entry has been transfered from my Yahoo 360 blog - hence the references, it was also a bad time in my life but despite being painful, I've kept the details in lest we forget.

Yet another random image from mydocs.

Its been a while since I did a blog entry, I'm still not sure if I'll stick with this or do my own blog software, I mean how hard can it be?

Works ok, did the overtime shift this weekend (sunday) I know I could do with the money for the holidays but I could also do with the sleep. Theres more work this weekend but I can't make it (and I feel bad) cus Lorraines off to that wedding do with Pete this weekend <sigh>.

I just noticed I really like this font in here, may find out what it is and use it for my website.  I'm really feeling in the mood to do something exciting and creative with my site.  Still not sure what though, I did enjoy getting the RSS feeds on my homepage though.

Talking of the holidays I'm getting a bit worried I still haven't got the hotel finalised.  Tom & Lain think its all done and dusted so I daren't let them down on it.  Last year was a disaster cus I couldn't afford a holiday, so I don't want another repeat of that.  It could be worse this year as I've already booked the flights and Lains started buying holiday clothes.  I'll be able to get a firm booking on Saturday (2nd July) this week so just hold my breath till then.  Still then it'll only be 27 days till we go. <ARRGHH!>

Entry for May 18, 2005

Well its Starwars week, but I'm more interested in the football to be honest.   I guess I'm just sick of all the hype about it, I'll enjoy the film when I go and see it (on sunday).

The playoffs have been occuring all week, its great but my grass could do with a cut and I just don't have time, what with spending 3 hours a night watching footy.  Still it'll be a long summer, with no international championship to look forward to.

Got a nice working model of the barcode going, pulls the data from the database and produces printable labels.  Mike is pleased with them, I suppose its great for him since he's been sat on this idea for over 2 years and not known if it was possible or not.

Still gotta get the SCR thing out there, wish somebody would sit and test it for me otherwise I can't move on to new more exciting projects.  Gotta get some more .Net training done too.  Its about time I made the transition but the more I look at it the more it sounds like a whole new language.  I'll click with it soon but I'm impatient I suppose.
